'Cork Young Filmmakers- Summer Film Week' - Offering young people, age 14-19, with a passion for filmmaking an opportunity to explore and develop their skills in a collaborative environment, Cork Film Centre announces its 2019 Summer Film Weeks programme Interested in becoming involved in Film Making? Apply now! A unique programme managed and presented by Cork Film Centre in collaboration with Cork County Council providing affordable professional training and experience to creative young people in all aspects of filmmaking.
This year four hands-on week-long workshops will provide almost 100 young people with an opportunity to make a film and meet like-minded people interested in filmmaking. In July four Summer Film Weeks, with the support of Cork County Council, will take place.

In Midleton, Mallow, Macroom and Bandon young people who are interested in any aspect of filmmaking, whether already having some experience, previously attended Cork Young Filmmakers one or two-day workshops or are passionate about film and want a chance to try different roles and develop your skills, will gather together. Midleton Summer Week is also supported by SECAD, the local partnership.
Participants will learn and experience a wide variety of different aspects of being a filmmaker in a hands-on, fun and interactive workshop. Working alongside professional filmmakers from Cork Film Centre, over five days you will explore, learn and create short film. Filmmaking isnt a solo activity. During Summer Film Week youll meet other, like-minded young.
Each workshop will cover scriptwriting, camera work, lighting, directing actors and an introduction to editing. At the end of the workshop participants will have produced a short film as a film crew with each participant rotating crew roles. Each filmmaker will receive a link to the final short film and a training handout will also be available.

Its all about having fun, learning new skills, building confidence, encouraging creativity and self-expression. For many of those who participate this experience is creating pathways into college, university and the film industry. All filmmakers will have an opportunity to showcase their short films at special Festival and Gala Film events.

What a great way to start the holidays! These workshop opportunities and support might just spark the interest in someone who wants to pursue this further, whether it's writing, directing, cinematography, sound engineering or acting.
