The idea of the festival is to highlight Shandon as the most Historical area in Cork and as a burgeoning cultural quarter. We want locals to realise how valuable this area is, both from a business, residential and artistic point of view. In recent times we have had lots of nationalities moving into this area, and it was to also let these people know, what opportunities are available to them in the community.

Leading up to the Festival, local artists facilitated workshops with schools and community groups, creating artistic street furniture and banners and preparing performances which were presented on the day. Events that were organised were the food fair, face painting, puppet shows, magic shows, stilt walkers, music from traditional bands, Butter Exchange Band, multicultural bands, Dramatic presentations were given by Artlink, Luvius Theatre Group, with participatory shows of salsa dancing and No Frontiers Dance Group.
