Barryscourt Castle was the seat of the Barry family from the 12th to the 17th century and was home to the most powerful branch of the family, the Barrymores.
Parts of the present Castle have been extensively restored and overall the place provides a fine example of a 15th century tower house. Fittings and furnishings are on display on the First Floor Main Hall and the Second Floor Great Hall. In the still-intact bawn, an herb garden has been recreated and the Orchard has been restored to an original 16th century design,
The Castle is managed in Conjunction with Barryscourt Trust and received aid by ECAD.
