Fresh of the release of his new book, the creator of beloved "Local Gossip", Bernard Casey closes on of our comedy shows.

Bernard Casey is one of Ireland’s most popular comedians, actors and character performers. Originally from Portmagee, Co. Kerry, Bernard has built a huge following through his stand-up and viral characters including Gossip, Nephew, The Polish Irish Barman, French Oral and Irish Listening Test.

His live shows have sold out major venues including Vicar Street, the INEC Killarney, Cork Opera House and The Everyman, alongside shows in London and Boston. His hugely successful Rural Pub Tour also saw 54 shows sell out across Ireland within a year.

Bernard has appeared regularly on RTÉ’s Callan’s Kicks, as well as Socially Distant and Blindboy on Cities. His comedy has earned praise from some of Ireland’s biggest names, with Tommy Tiernan describing him as “a wonderfully well-crafted performer.”

He is also the author of the new book Local Gossip: Tall Tales and Short Stories from Over the Road, published by Gill Books. Built around his much-loved characters Gossip and Nephew, the book dives into rural Irish life, GAA obsession, marriage, tradition, emigration and the business of knowing absolutely everything about your neighbours. It is released on 15 October 2026.

Expect sharp storytelling, brilliant character comedy and a very Irish look at the people and habits we all recognise.
