Joined by West Cork Fuzz Rockers Screenreader fronted by Singer Songwriter Brian Casey. Both bands are no stranger to the DeBarras stage having played many full house shows over the past few years. Paradox were originally formed in 1997 by brothers Pete Mac and Mike Mac. The early Paradox sound was heavily influenced by the Grunge Era of the 90's. Paradox have released 4 studio albums to date along with numerous singles. Singer Songwriter Pete Mac has also released 2 solo albums. The debut Paradox album 'Circle of Growth' was recorded in Los Angeles in 2000 and released on a US label. Their second album 'Sacred' was recorded and released in 2004, 'Corporate Pollution' was released in 2011 and 'Chapters' released in 2015. 2020 saw the release of their latest single 'Welcome to the Happy Place' however the band had to cancel a number of shows and plans as a result of Covid. Paradox have toured both Europe and the US over the years as well as playing support to the likes of Therapy?, Kerbdog and Shonen Knife and more recently sharing the stage with fellow Irish bands Fangclub and Bitch Falcon. 2020 also saw singer Pete Mac returning to his solo endeavors with the digital release of various cover versions and the release of his first original single titled 'Disappear' in over 10 years. A follow up single titled 'Escape' was released in 2021. Featuring the guest vocals from US/French iconic musician/ artist Lisa Papineau. 2023 saw the release of Pete Mac's second full length solo album 'Hiber Nation'. The band returned to playing live in 2024 with drummer Kieran O'Niell behind the drums. Screenreader came into being with the release of their debut album “Disconnect the Dots” in January 2012. Burning a trail from start to finish with mechanical samples, high-impact dynamics and fuzzed up electronic textures, the album has received high praise from critics as well as a quickly growing fan base, resulting in consistent national radio airplay from the likes of 2fm’s Dave Fanning and Dan Hegarty, along with airplay from regional and local radio stations. Since their debut the band has played countless well received live shows across the country, clearly demonstrating an intent to not only recreate but expand on the sounds of their recorded output. An early highlight of these shows was a slot on the main stage at Indiependence 2012 where the band further cemented a reputation as an energetic and dynamic live act. 2013 saw Screenreader record a live session for 2FM as well as hitting the road to play live as often as possible. Singer Songwriter Brian Casey focused on his solo ventures over the past few years with the release of various tracks and 2 full lenght EP’s. Also making live appearances at Other Voices and HWCH Festival in Dublin. More recently Brian has been working as a producer in his own recording studio Wavefield Studios in West Cork producing various releases for many established acts and musicians. Join both Paradox and Screenreader on Saturday April 13th for a night of Nirvana tunage.
