The Hawthorn Bar & Lakeside Restaurant is one of the few pubs in Cork City that is run by the same family for nearly half a century. It was built by the parent's of the present owner Patrick Coakley in 1961. Over the years it has developed from a local pub to what it is today, one of Cork's best known Bars and Restaurant with an unparalleled view of the Lough.
The Lough is a famous wildlife sanctuary in the heart of the city. Just two miles from the city centre and a five minute walk from University College Cork home of the famous Boole Library. Whatever your pleasure a leisurely walk, studying the wildlife, fishing for specimen carp or just a talk with the locals. The Hawthorn also serves morning coffee, has a delicatessen and serves a carvery menu at lunchtime seven days a week.
