The newest addition to the Cork Heritage Pub Trail, Arthur Mayne’s Pharmacy is a 120-year-old chemist turned Wine Bar.
Very little has been done to the ground floor of the building, apart from the installation of a state-of-the-art enomatic wine system that allows customers sample 24 different varieties of wines without stumping out for an entire glass or bottle of the label.
A range of wines are also available from behind the counter, along with a selection of medicines, so what better way to make wine accessible and democratic to the wider public?
The perfect spot for an afternoon coffee and scone, the pub’s beautiful and intriguing surroundings are a welcome addition to Cork’s nightlife – even the toilets will catch your eye – but you need to arrive early if you’re to guarantee youself a seat for the evening.
