BRIARS are an alternative folk act that sound like nobody else in the Irish scene. Their sound ranges from fragile subtlety, to raucous energy, visiting every stop along the way, always underlined with a signature twist.
At their core, BRIARS consists of two main writers, (Mick Grace & Paul O’Shea), but are joined in studio (as well as in a live setting) by some of Ireland’s finest musicians, often from contrasting backgrounds and styles. Their songs and tunes are a unique blend of the band’s traditional folk and alternative contemporary influences.
Their energetic live show mixes original songs and tunes (as well as original arrangements of traditional style tunes) and has already been captivating festival audiences this summer, the band performed at Electric Picnic, When Next We Meet, Galway Folk Festival, Whelans Trad and Folk Festival, Liverpool Irish Festival (with more festival dates to be announced).
The band’s latest single ‘Qualms’ received coverage from the likes of RTE, Hot Press, Analogue Trash, The Irish Post and more, as well as regular radio play on national Irish radio. Their next single, ‘Words’ is set for release in late September, followed by more live appearances to promote it.
