This exhibition is of both figurative and landscape art in oils charcoals and pastels.
The figurative works express my understanding of the interaction between musicians and the audience - the space between which the music happens - notes, chords, instruments, sounds, beats, rhythms, harmonies and melody - and translates to the audience and the integral role they play in the musical experience and expression. The landscapes are is directly inspired by Kerry in particular - the mountains, field patterns, colours, hues, air and light and expresses the emotional reaction I feel for these places
I am inspired by how we make our mark on land - big or small, light, or heavy - and how we use the land but also the feeling that these marks are temporary and transitory as we move through the generations making a living off it while still dwarfed and to an extent rendered powerless by it. But the love and respect that we have for the land is not diminished.
