The festival will kick off on Friday at 7pm with Bill Griffin’s art exhibition, one of two art exhibitions at the festival, followed by a CD launch with Pat Fleming, Live Music from Sliabh Luachra, accompanied by Doon Road. ‘Pat Fleming is steeped in the Sliabh Luachra tradition and has an enviable reputation as one of the very best exponents of this style on accordion and melodeon’ (Irish Music Magazine).
Doon Road will then perform in the village and we’ll also have the ever-popular Two Time Polka, whose distinctive sound has its roots in Cajun, Zydeco, and Bluegrass music. This year we are excited to present a unique Saturday lunchtime concert, Ceol agus Caint - The Dwyer Family and their music.
Richard Dwyer, with his cousin Mary Donegan and friends Nicky & Anne McAuliffe, will talk about the Dwyer Family and play a selection of their compositions. Nicky & Anne McAuliffe won the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for their contribution to teaching Irish traditional music and have great knowledge of the Dwyer Family's music and compositions.
