The Comedy Improvised Murder Mystery Gang are back again with their hilarious ‘off the cuff’ antics for three nights at the Cork Arts Theatre from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th October.
The show stars Dominc MacHale, best known as Sgt. Healy from The Young Offenders; Laura O’Mahony, an outstanding comedienne with numerous stage, TV and radio appearances; Laura Harte, creator of The Improv Panto; and Annette Roche and Adrian Scanlan, stalwarts of Snatch Comedy Improv. The show is devised and directed by Cork theatre director, James Horgan.
Now in its 10th year, the show is entirely improvised and, with no script to fall back on, the actors must create the entire plot with its many twists and turns on the spot. As usual, things get out of hand pretty quickly with deadly (and hilarious) consequences.
The audience must play their part each night too and they will secretly decide beforehand who the unfortunate victim and the mysterious murderer will be. And they will also provide hilarious ‘secrets’ that the cast read out at random moments to add mayhem and mirth to the proceedings. All of this is completed before the show starts so that the audience can then sit back, relax and enjoy the ensuing mayhem.
Director, James Horgan, said of the show, “We are delighted to be back after a two year absence with our unique brand of improvised joyousness. The improvised nature of the show and the ‘secrets’ the audience provides mean the show is completely different each time it’s performed. This year ‘the gang” are attending a party at ‘Frownton Abbey’ and, as usual, it soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems – especially not our various characters!”
So, with audience suggestions, random musical cues and no script in sight, ‘The Comedy Improvised Murder Mystery’ is set to be a deliciously chaotic and hilarious evening’s entertainment and one of the season’s comedy highlights.
Due to the unpredictable nature of the show and the audience suggestions, this show is only suitable for persons over 16. Definitely not one for the kids.
