Official tourism website for Cork, Ireland

One hundred years ago, on the 18th May 1922, the British Army evacuated Victoria (now Collins) Barracks in Cork and it was occupied by members of Cork No. 1 Brigade of the IRA.

This was a defining moment in the history of Cork as it marked the end of the British occupation of the city.

The exhibition utilises real photographs from a variety of sources, this exhibition will link the events that led up to that historic day, the key individuals involved and the importance of the barracks to the city of Cork at the time.

Never miss an event or new attraction in Cork.
