Podge Lane is an alt-folk singer songwriter/ Pun Enthusiast based in Cork City. Classifying himself as a ‘Music nerd’ He began writing his own music after taking inspiration from artist like Johnny Cash and The Beach Boys to Weezer And The White Stripes , but using his own personal experiences and drole humour in his lyrics.
In 2017 he began recording his debut releases using a DIY attitude producing and playing the majority of instruments himself. He released Three singles ‘The Dark’, ‘Move on’ and ‘Family Tree’ in 2017 which he brought out independently on Spotify Itunes etc, to high success. His Debut EP ‘People Leave In Colour’ came out on the 6th of April, Released under his own label PCLM Lane Records to a great reception, and was the catalyst for his Irish Post Indie Artist Of The Year Nomination.
He began a solo tour in July,supporting his second EP ‘The Big Break’, which was a much more Lo-Fi concept album, and where he began playing and producing 100% of his work. After a successful solo tour and dates opening for english indie artists Rozi Plain and Kiran Leonard, Podge recorded his third EP ‘Falling Backwards Into Nothing’, with the first single ‘The Boy Who Almost Went and Lost It All’ which is released on the 31st of December ( Podge’s Birthday). With a much more ambitious sound influenced by Psychedelic music and Hip Hop , a new record label ( The Podge Lane owned ‘Thanks Alex Records’ ) And tons of exciting releases to come in 2019, the future is looking bright for Cork City’s resident loft indie nerd.
