Your invited to an O'Mahony Clan Gathering for those of blood, kin and affection. Come an Meet the Clan and Greet on Friday 21 June from 5pm, join in sessions on genealogy and DNA on Sat from 10am, all at Coolcower House, Macroom.





Gathering at Castle Mahon, Bandon, Sunday 23 June, from 1pm with a BYO picnic, then at 3pm the Gathering with piper and castle history. See this castle of the O'Mahony clan built no later than 1400. In all the O'Mahonys built 14 castles, mainly along the Munster coast, as far west as Three Castle Head on the Mizen Peninsular, Co Cork.





Castle Mahon was built of stone to withstand any Norman invasion. Prior to this the clan lived in earthen raths called ring forts. Descendants are residuary legatees of a civilisation that was more than one thousand years old.
