AS AN SLIOGÁIN – SOLO SHOW GRADUATE EXHIBITION Blackwater Valley Makers, Release: June 8, 2019. For Immediate Release ‘As an sliogáin’ is the solo graduate show of Niamh Dorgan, awarded by the Blackwater Valley Makers. This exhibit consists of drawings, poetry, paintings and digital collage works on paper. Inspired by nature; Dorgan’s work is textural and full of natural elements. As an Sliogáin ‘from the shell’ is an exploration of the Irish coastline, the flora and fauna that reside within the sea. “Humans have evolved from the sea, made of approximately 60% water; we traverse this planet with vast oceans inside us. This perspective on life is humbling, giving a sense of awe and gratitude inciting a sense of duty to preserve it. Drawing is used as a way of conveying these ideas and constructs a narrative in which my body is a self-contained world filled with oceans, mountains, and organic forms.” Niamh Dorgan A recent graduate from the Limerick School of Art and Design, Dorgan has since been awarded with a Desk residency in the Guesthouse Project, Cork. Named as one of Ireland’s ‘New Generation artists’ in the Irish Arts Review, she is emerging in the Irish Visual Art scene on various platforms with her performance, poetry and 2D work and was recently featured in various Irish Art magazines such as CIRCA magazine for her performance work as part of Collective EVIL, Limerick. The exhibition will be held in Blackwater Valley Arts Centre located in Pearse Square, Fermoy, Co. Cork Opening: 8th June, 2019. Running: 8th June- 30th June 2019. For more information:
