The Cork-based singer nicknamed the 'Chicago Diva' by her many adoring fans, Karen Underwood, will be playing at this brand new venue in Washington Street at 6pm FRiday, Saturday & Sunday of the Jazz weekend. Karen has written and performed four of her own shows which have toured across the country to critical and popular acclaim. She has played a host of Irish venues including The Olympia, Vicar Street, the Gaiety, National Concert Hall to name but a few.
The American-born singer is a truly extraordinary performer who enthrals audiences with her stunning interpretations of songs by the artists that have inspired her own career and whose music has touched her heart. During her 'Nina In Me' show, Karen performed her own interpretations of timeless classics made famous by Nina Simone.
These included 'Ain't Got No', 'My Baby Just Cares For Me' and 'Here Comes The Sun', all delivered in one moving single package of pure drama and nostalgia. She is a regular at festivals including Electric Picnic, Body and Soul, Black Box Festival of Fools, and Cork Jazz Festival. She has appeared live on TV3, TG4 and been guest on numerous radio shows including Pat Kenny, Derek Mooney, Marty Whelan, Miriam OCallaghan, John Creedon.
