The Blackwater Valley Makers have become a treasured part of Fermoy’s community, bringing arts and crafts to life in the centre of a town hungry for creativity and artistic expression. Home to artists of many persuasions, the group have survived the rigours of repeated lockdowns and have remained steadfast in their goals to remain together and to recruit new members. As they emerge from a time of uncertainty and the sorrow of the departure from the former Ulster Bank premises in Pearse Square, Fermoy, the group are delighted to report the reopening of their gallery. With the support of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, the arts group are happy to announce that their work will be on display and for sale in The Old Mill, Connaberry, Castletownroache for the summer months of June, July and August. The exhibition will represent the very best of the artists’ work and each member will continue to welcome conversation, enquiries and commissions. After a long winter and a slow springtime, the artists revel in the anticipation of reconnecting with their audience. The promise of reconstructing the gallery in a temporary location also brings excitement. Having admired The Old Mill building in Castletownroache for many years, Blackwater Valley Makers are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase their work in such a beautiful setting throughout the summer. The Makers are actively seeking out new gallery space in their creative hub of Fermoy and believe that a permanent home is within reach. Watch this space for more news. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cork County Council for their ongoing and tireless support as well as their customers for their continued interest. The group will take up residence in Castletownroache from the 1st of June, 2021 and visitors can call in from 10am till 5pm, Monday to Friday. Refreshments will also be available.
