Pristine and peaceful beach that was formed after the Lisbon tsunami of 1755. Located at the end of Mizen Head peninsula, a 20-25 minute drive from Schull, Barleycove is isolated, peaceful and relaxing.
The clear blue waves of the Atlantic ocean bounce up and down on the sand. The beach is south facing but conveniently shielded from the south-westerly breeze, making it very popular with families.
The hotel at the far end of the beach serves delicious food or if you fancy a pint of Cork stout, O'Sullivan's in Crookhaven, a short drive away, is another gem.
